About Ken

I grew up with a stunning woman, carved out of marble by an Italian sculptor in San Francisco in the early 1900s.
Ancient Greek sculpture, introduced to me in history courses at UC Davis, inspired me to start carving stone over thirty years ago.

Having always been fascinated with fountains, I started studying Landscape Architecture to create an environment where sculpture is the focal point. Water engineering was self-taught to enhance the beauty of flowing water through stone that I carved.

Sculpting stone is a time-altering passion. The courage and focus it takes to use diamond blades and chisels to remove valuable ancient stone changes my experience of time.

There is an energy that moves through you that has a timeless sensation.
An energy that does not feel like your own.

I’m always grateful for the concentration, freedom, and courage when I’m carving.
The tools needed for different types and sizes of stone are highly specialized. I’m thankful for many sculptors who have shared their knowledge with me.

Sharing your work or designing with someone who loves stone sculpture makes for a wonderful life.
